After much anticipation, the sequel to the 2015 thriller film Drishyam finally hit the theaters on November 18. The film, which is originally an official remake of a Malayalam-language movie by the same name, became a path-breaker in storytelling of Indian thriller movies. The second installment of the film also follows just one year after the release of the sequel of the original Malayalam film which came out in February, 2021. The first part of the film revolved around a murder and the attempts of a family to avoid being implicated in the murder. Now, in the sequel, the same murder investigation is back to haunt the family as a new police head takes on the case.

While Bollywood is struggling to produce thrillers that can fetch the numbers at the Box Office, Drishyam 2 has definitely caught people’s eyes. Although it has not even been a full week at the theaters, the movie is already exceeding all expectations, as per sources. The movie also witnessed many advanced bookings and full-house boards for most shows throughout the weekend.

The huge popularity of the film can be assessed with its YouTube trailer itself. The trailer was posted by T-Series on October 17 and has amassed more than 10 million views, 341,000 likes and over 7,500 comments. The popularity has also resulted in many fans inquiring about the OTT release date for Drishyam 2. The film stars Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran in lead roles besides Ajay Devgn.

While there is no official information on the topic, it usually takes about 6 weeks for a film to move to an online streaming platform. With a mid November release, the film is expected to hit the OTT platforms by end of December or early January. December 30 or January 6 are both likely dates when the movie can premier online.

Right now, it is not known which platform the movie can go to, although the first part is already streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
