The second test match between India and England is currently being played at Vizag and after winning the toss, India decided to bat first.

However, the start of the Indian innings was not as expected as skipper Rohit Sharma got out early at the score of 14 for which he played 41 deliveries. The debutant English spinner Shoaib Bashir had a dream start to his test career as he got Rohit Sharma as his first wicket but another opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stood firm and as of now, India has scored 240/3 with the help of Yashasvi’s 139 runs not out.

The Indian skipper was criticised a lot for his poor captaincy in the first test match which India lost and now he is getting slammed for his batting style in the second test match.

The former England skipper Kevin Pietersen was confused with Rohit Sharma’s lazy approach and he said, “It doesn’t matter who you get out to, you can get out to anybody. I think he’d be kicking himself because there were plenty of runs to be had here. On this wicket, against a very young and inexperienced bowling attack, he will be looking at his dismissal and thinking, ‘How on earth did I get myself out here?’”

He further added, “That (the dismissal) was quite lazy. Yes, it is instinctive to knock the ball towards the leg side. But there was no urgency in what led to the dismissal. There was no urgency to try and get off the strike. These guys are expansive from ball one in T20 cricket, they play so beautifully. We have not seen huge spin, massive bounce, or anything that should pose any fear in the batter’s mind.”

Do you agree with Kevin Pietersen?
