The preparations for India’s festival of cricket, the Indian Premier League or the IPL, has already begun. More than 991 players, including 714 Indians and 277 foreign players have signed up for the auctions to the 2023 edition of the tournament. This year, it will be a mini auction and as a result all the franchises will get to keep between 10 to 16 players in their team. All the ten teams will be participating in the auction and complete their squad of maximum 25 players. The franchises were given a deadline of November 30 for IPL player registration. All the ten franchises disclosed their list of players that were being kept by November 15 itself. This means that out of the 991 players which have signed up for the registration, a maximum of 87 find a franchise to play the tournament next year.
